Happy Valentine’s Day 2022!
What a great time to celebrate love! After all the world has been through the last couple of years, it’s clear that we can all use more love in our lives. The COVID-19 pandemic showed us the importance of being patient and kind with one another. The isolation we all faced only emphasized the power of connection once we were able to gather together again. The losses of loved ones to the horrible illness gave us a renewed appreciation for every moment we spend with those we can’t imagine losing. We are all very fortunate and should embrace love on every level—individually, as a family, in each community, nationally and globally! And Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to do just that.
So, what is your favorite way to show love on this special day? Are you more of a traditional flowers and candy kind of person? Do you go big with expensive gifts, jewelry, and a fancy dinner? Or do you like to get creative, possibly by writing beautiful poetry? Do you use this day to surprise others or perform random acts of kindness? Perhaps you like to keep it low key and simply wear a touch of red—a red sweater or tie—to acknowledge the spirit of the day? Or would you *clutch the pearls, prefer to ignore Valentine’s Day all together?
However you choose to mark the day, or even if you do not want to publicly celebrate at all, you might want to use the occasion to reflect on the significance of love in your life. If you are single and looking for a relationship, have you truly adopted a practice of self-love? In order to know what you need most from a partner, you must understand and love yourself first. Consider Valentine’s Day an opportunity to explore your feelings and treat yourself to big and small experiences that make you joyful! Create a loving sentiment that will make the day memorable and special. If you are ready for excitement, consider making a bold move and approaching a love interest you have been thinking about for a while. You might be pleasantly surprised by the response you get. Resist the anxiety you might normally feel and if questioned about why you decided to make a move—blame it on Cupid! Love is in the air!
If you are involved in a relationship, don’t miss out on the chance to spread the love! If you have been together a while there is a tendency to take your union for granted. Resist the urge to downplay or ignore the occasion. Your effort to make your partner feel special will be remembered and appreciated for a long time to come. If your relationship is not going as well as you would like, consider this the perfect time to refresh your connection. If you are happy with your current relationship, what better way to show your appreciation than to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Be thankful for the intimate bond you have and intentionally express your love to your partner in a special way.
Valentine’s Day is just one day of the year but with any luck the love it spreads will remain in your heart the other 364 days as well.
Enjoy Valentine’s Day! Have fun! Spread love!
